Extension of the vase life of Lilium pumilum cut flowers by pulsing solution containing sucrose, citric acid and silver thiosulfate

Abstract Floriculture is a promising activity and has great economic importance. In this context, the cultivation of Lilium pumilum Redouté stands out. However, one main challenges flower farmers face that large part products lost before reaching final consumer, due to postharvest losses. Such losses can be minimized by adopting some techniques, such as use conditioning solution (pulsing), which been effective in preventing early senescence. sense, study aimed evaluate effect pulsing with sucrose, citric acid silver thiosulphate on conservation L. cut flowers. All treatments promoted 1.8±0.3 day increase longevity, uniformity floral opening, reduced fresh weight loss compared control (flowers were not pulse-treated). There was no significant difference chlorophyll content leaf relative water content. The time exposure caused differences reduction anthocyanin contents when control, demonstrating preservative for at least 6 h extends vase life flowers two days.
